"We begin with the corpse of an angel...though of course there can be no such thing."
Kairos Theodosian[1]

The Ealamal is an artifact created from the corpse of an Angel of Judgement. It is filled with so much light it purifies the air around it just by existing. [2]

The artifact is triggered through the use of an ivory baton.[3] Cordelia broke the rod during the siege on Keter. [4]

When used, the artifact would kill a number of people based on the decision of Judgement. The exact number of people is uncertain. Cordelia Hasenbach thought it would kill less than 1 in 10 people in its range, though she added that even if it killed 9 in 10 people that would still be better than letting the Dead King win.[3]

The artifact can be used in a weakened manner. By doing this Cordelia scoured the works of the Dead King from the principality of Salia. When used this way its judgment is less strict, but still killed hundreds if not thousands of people in the blast as well.[5]

The Intercessor spent a great deal of effort trying to force Cordelia to use the ealamal against the Dead King. The Intercessor would then Guide the ealamal into a blast so powerful and severe it would leave only a few dozen survivors in all of Calernia, who would then die off naturally and leave Calernia devoid of stories, finally ending her existence.

Like any angelic manifestation, an ealamal blast refreshes the fabric of Creation to a pristine state, an effect known as tabula rasa. After the conclusion of the War on Keter, the Grand Alliance built a new control baton for the ealamal, and began using it in controlled pulses to decontaminate the Kingdom of the Dead.
